CINCINNATI, OH – United Soccer Leagues announced today that the Cincinnati Kings will join the Super Y-League’s Midwest Division for the 2009 season. An affiliate of the Premier Development League (PDL) club, the latest addition to the league will compete in the girls U13, U15 and U17 division.
“In my experience, the Super Y-League is one of the best ways for serious players to maintain their competitive edge and continue to improve their abilities during the summer months,” said USL Premier Development League Head Coach Roby Stahl of the Cincinnati Kings.
In addition to his PDL duties, Stahl will also serve as the Super Y-League Director for Kings Soccer Academy during the 2009 season.
“Many programs shut down after state cup, but this is a great option for Kings Soccer Academy (KSA) members,” said Stahl. “[Should KSA develop boys Super Y-League teams in the next few years] it will provide KSA players with a chance to be brought into the PDL program following their junior or senior HS years.”
“The Northern Kentucky area is slightly behind our counterparts in Cincinnati/Louisville and Lexington,” added Stahl. “This will expose more talented players to higher level coaching and competitive Super Y-League clubs. Players identified by scouts at games will have the chance to be invited into [Super Y-League ODP National Camps] in Florida attended by both U.S. Soccer National Staff and collegiate coaches.”
