It’s been an amazing High School Season for Junior, Forward, Alec Robbins. Alec plays for Scott High School and the Kings Soccer Academy U17 Elite Team. Alec scored 26 goals and had 10 assists this past High School Season, earning 2009 Northern Kentucky Offensive Player of the Year and 2009 Large School Conference Player of the Year. Alec was also a finalist for Kentucky Soccer Player of the Year.
"Alec works hard on the game field and the practice field no matter what we are working on as a team. His knowledge of the game is outstanding, and he never shies away from being the first player to demonstrate a drill or give a new drill the first try,” Casey Seibert, Scott High School Boys Soccer Coach said. “He has a knack for putting the ball in the net no matter who the opponent is, as he has accumulated 62 goals in the past three seasons. Alec is the main target for our offense, so he usually finds himself double-teamed or playing against the other team’s best defender. He plays the game with a huge heart and with great determination."
Alec and his team advanced to Sub-sectionals, ending their season with a 1-0 hard fought battle favoring Covington Catholic High School. Alec earned a spot on the All District and All Region Tournament Teams, 1st Team All Region by Northern Kentucky High School Boys’ Coaches Association and 1st Team All State for the second year in a row! Other awards Alec has received include: 2008 ESPN Rise All Area Team and 2008 Cincinnati Enquirer All City Team (Northern Kentucky).
Alec’s favorite goal this season was his 1st goal against Highlands on their Senior Night. The goal was a “through ball” from KSA player, Dexter Morgan, leaving Alec with a “1v.1” against Highlands goalkeeper. Alec then hit the ball far post. His “shining moment” for the season was winning the Region 2 - 1 v. Ryle at Ryle. Alec scored both goals.
Alec had one superstition – his Assistant Coach, BJ, had to stretch him out before each High School game. Off the soccer field, Alec enjoys going to the movies with his friends and watching Ohio State play college basketball.
Alec’s goals include playing college soccer at Ohio State, University of Cincinnati or University of Louisville. Alec also aspires to play professional soccer. Alec is looking forward to the Kings upcoming season, getting back on the field with his teammates and playing high level matches across the region.
"I have had the pleasure of working with Alec for four years now and have seen tremendous growth during that time,” KSA Coach Roby Stahl said. “His skills are becoming immaculate and he is beginning to transcend into the next phase of his career...tactical awareness. Alec has tremendous potential and should turn into a top level player in the next few years.
“I would like to give a special thanks to goalkeeper Matt Kees (also a KSA Player), our defense and KSA coaches Roby Stahl, Neil Oughton and Greg Bowman for all of the training,” Robbins said. Alec is also a very hard working student who is typically on “Honor Roll” and takes Advanced Placement and Honors classes. KSA is very proud and happy for #8, Alec Robbins!
