After sweeping their respective flight with wins against CUSC Inferno (3-1), Cincinnati Soccer Alliance Elite (4-1) and Team Storm (3-2), they would face off against fellow Kings team KSA Mathews in the championship match.
After going down 1-0 from an early header off a corner kick, KSA Tucker fought back in the second half earning a late goal to finish regulation tied 1-1. The match was decided in a shootout where KSA Tucker’s goalie made saves against three of five penalty kicks to seal the win.
Coach Tucker commented, “I can honestly say that our championship match was one of the most exciting and rewarding soccer experiences I have ever had either as a player or coach. I was impressed to see how the team responded against adversity in the second half and I can’t tell you how awesome it was seeing how the team embraced and celebrated with each other at the end in victory. It was definitely good for their self-confidence and respect for one another as teammates. I hope they remember the feeling for a long time. They definitely earned it.”
