Kings Run into Cleveland Buzz Saw
The Kings ran into a buzz saw last Friday night as they conceded two goals to the Cleveland Internationals in the first six minutes of the game and never caught up, losing 5-1. The Internationals welcomed the Kings to Cleveland with their first goal two minutes into the game. Four minutes later, a Kings’ turnover in the midfield led to Cleveland’s second goal in the opening minutes of the match. Back on their heels, the Kings gave up a pair of counterattack goals to the Internationals in the 17th and 39th minutes.
After regrouping at halftime, the Kings came out and played Cleveland evenly until the 62nd minute when the Internationals slipped behind the Kings’ defense and scored their fifth goal of the match. Drew Eby slotted home a beautiful finish in the 84th minute to avoid the shutout for the Kings. The Kings’ record is now 3-7-1 with 10 points, good for fourth place in the Great Lakes Division.
Ross Receives English Tryout
Kings starting central midfielder Adam Ross will be leaving the Kings this week to participate in training with Salisbury in England. After training for a few weeks there, he will go through a trial process with Hull City and the Doncaster Rovers if necessary.
Ross, from West Chester and a graduate of Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy, is a first-year player with the Kings having previously played with the Chicago Fire Reserves and last year with the Cleveland Internationals. The Kings coaching staff and players wish Adam the best of luck!
Kings Tie, Lose on Weekend
The Kings had a doubleheader weekend with home games on Friday and Saturday night last weekend. The Kings opened the weekend with a 0-0 tie against the Chicago Fire and followed it up with a 2-0 loss to the Indiana Invaders.
Kings Bump Edge, 3-1
The Kings came out fast and their aggressiveness paid off as they downed the West Michigan Edge, 3-1, on Friday night at the Town & Country Soccer Stadium in PDL action. Branden Stelmak led the way for Cincinnati with a five-point performance highlighted by two goals.
