Kings Fall to Fire
The Chicago Fire came back from a 1-0 deficit to defeat the Kings 3-2 at Toyota Park on Wednesday night. The Kings scored 30 minutes into the game on a move started by defender Jake Vollmer on a diagonally driven ball over the top to midfielder Jimmy Cummings who accurately crossed to the head of forward David Lopez beating the Chicago goalkeeper.  Chicago scored with 12 minutes remaining in the half on a shot originally saved by Byron Neal who gave up a rebound for an easy tap-in. The scored remained 1-1 at halftime.

The Fire went ahead 2-1 at the 58th minute on a disputed goal that Kings players saw as offsides.  Jimmy Cummings scored by chipping the ball over the goalkeeper as the Kings pressed the Fire into a corner and stole the ball in the 75th minute.  The match appeared to be headed for a tie when the Fire had three successive corners dealt with by the Kings.  On the third, the ball was cleared to a Kings player who tried to dribble from 30 yards out and was stripped of the ball.  The ensuing cross found an unmarked Fire player as the defense failed to push out.
