Bucks Down Kings
The Michigan Bucks showed why they were the PDL Champions in 2006, the league runners-up in 2007 and the first PDL team to qualify for this year's playoffs in a 3-1 win over the Kings last Saturday night in Detroit.
The Bucks had previously defeated the Kings at home 1-0 in June on an 89th minute goal. This time the Kings came out flying and were rewarded on a David Lopez goal following a cross from right midfielder Tony Ray. The Kings had two chances quickly to score again on a header that went wide from Drew Eby and a well-saved free kick from Andy Dimbi. The Bucks leveled the score in the 20th minute and then scored in injury time to head into the locker room 2-1.
After reorganizing tactically at halftime, the Kings came out and out shot the Bucks 9-4 in the second half but were plagued by the season long problem of not converting chances. The Kings had a good chance to level the score in the 48th minute that the Bucks goalkeeper saved. After the Bucks goal at the 65th minute mark, the Kings relentlessly attacked with a Jimmy Cummings header and two Andy Burke semi-breakaways that were all cleared off the line. Goalkeeper Byron Neal had two saves for the Kings.
