Kings Tie West Michigan, 1-1
The Kings tied the West Michigan Edge, 1-1, in Grand Rapids, Michigan last night. The match was the last leg of four consecutive road games for the Kings that started on June 27.

Perhaps feeling the effects of a tough loss to the Chicago Fire the previous night, the Kings started very lethargic yet still dominated early creating several opening minutes chances. However, it was the Edge who started the scoring at the 10 minute mark with finish of a nice cross from the right. The Kings continued to attack forcing six corner kicks and five free kicks earned near the top of the box in the first half.

In the 25th minute, Brandon Stelmak was brought down for the Kings first penalty kick of the year. He calmly slotted the ball to the goalkeeper's right to tie the game at 1-1.

The second half was even with neither team pushing the other. David Lopez had a flick on goal nicely handled by the Edge goalkeeper. The Kings created an excellent chance to win in the 88th minute when Jake Vollmer slotted the ball through to Jimmy Cummings who played it across the box. With the goalkeeper down, Dustin Downey could only manage to hit the side netting of the open goal.

The Kings return to Cincinnati for their final home game of the season on Saturday night. They take on the West Virginia Chaos at the Town & Country Soccer Stadium with kickoff at 7:30 p.m.
