Charlie Pettys to become a Gaucho
Charlie Pettys, one of the Kings three 18 year old players, has officially signed with the University of California, Santa Barbara the 2006 NCAA Division One National Champions.
Charlie joined the Kings roster while still in his senior year of high school and started and played in many games during the 2008 season. Prior to coming to the Kings Charlie played club ball and trained exclusively with Kings head coach Roby Stahl commuting from Columbus, Ohio three times a week for three years. He also played for Coach Stahl for two years on the SYL National team traveling to Germany prior to joining the Kings.
Coming on the heels of three Kings players being selected this week for the USL Professional combine of only 90 invitees worldwide is another example of the Cincinnati Kings commitment to the development of quality players both on the boys and girls from our immediate area.
Charlie committed to begin his academic and athletic (soccer) career at the University of California, Santa Barbara earlier this week. This decision came after multiple discussions with Tim Von Steeg (Head Coach) & Neil Jones (Asst Coach) as well as a weekend trip to the campus.
Charlie graduated from Bexley High School (Ohio) earlier this year. He was part of the USL National 90’ team from 2005-2007 and played for the Kings (PDL) over the summer (2008). Charlie possesses a great mix of skill, speed, toughness and is very coachable. These qualities, along with an enormous amount of potential, caused him to be heavily recruited by UC schools. We look forward to watching him continue to shine for PSAElite, OC Blue Star & as a Gaucho next Fall (2009)!
