Matt Bahner's Two Assist lead Kings to Victory
Kings Win, 2-0 at Home

The Cincinnati Kings defeated the Indiana Invaders 2-0 before a crowd of 1,300 to go 1-1 on the season.  The Kings scored at the 14th minute on a goal by Josh Albers who was starting his first game for the Kings.  The goal was a total team effort as several players were involved in the build up with quick decisive combination play prior to the final delivery by Matt Bahner.  The score was 1-0 at half.

The Invaders played with much more urgency at the beginning of the second half and managed to hit the crossbar but struggled to create much more after that.  The Kings second goal was scored in the 71st minute of the second half as goalkeeper Matt Williams found winger Bahner with quick distribution at the midline and Bahner turned his defender inside-out before curling a ball between the central defenders for forward Nick Weightman to tuck in the breakaway.

After the second goal the Kings dominated the play and should have scored a few more with left winger CJ Tappel (coming on at half) providing two excellent crosses that should have been finished.  Bahner, streaking in from wide) could only manage to hit the post with the keeper beaten and second half sub Andy Burke pushed his shot wide.

Coach Roby Stahl’s Quote:

Following the Chicago Fire game we worked on; communication between the lines of players, learning to become more focused on free kicks, both for and against and dictating the way the opponents would have to play.  I think we accomplished our goals.  We are creating several good chances a game and the emphasis in training this week will be on finishing off those opportunities.

We will be severely tested this week with road games versus the Michigan Bucks (two times league champions) and the Kalamazoo Rage who were in the final four last year.
