Kings Run into Cleveland Buzz Saw
The Kings ran into a buzz saw last Friday night as they conceded two goals to the Cleveland Internationals in the first six minutes of the game and never caught up, losing 5-1. The Internationals welcomed the Kings to Cleveland with their first goal two minutes into the game. Four minutes later, a Kings’ turnover in the midfield led to Cleveland’s second goal in the opening minutes of the match. Back on their heels, the Kings gave up a pair of counterattack goals to the Internationals in the 17th and 39th minutes.

After regrouping at halftime, the Kings came out and played Cleveland evenly until the 62nd minute when the Internationals slipped behind the Kings’ defense and scored their fifth goal of the match. Drew Eby slotted home a beautiful finish in the 84th minute to avoid the shutout for the Kings.

The Kings’ record is now 3-7-1 with 10 points, good for fourth place in the Great Lakes Division.

Ross, from West Chester and a graduate of Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy, is a first-year player with the Kings having previously played with the Chicago Fire Reserves and last year with the Cleveland Internationals.

Kings Drop Weekend Pair
The Kings had a rough weekend as they lost both games they played in United Soccer Leagues Premier Development League (PDL) action.

On Saturday evening at the Town & Country Soccer Stadium, the Kings hosted the Toronto Lynx. The visitors went up quickly with a goal in the 18th minute. However, the Kings’ Jimmy Cummings (Xavier University) evened the score just before halftime with a breakaway run and one-on-one finish against the Toronto keeper. That would be all the scoring the Kings would do though as Toronto attacked in the second half and produced two goals, one in the 74th minute and the final one in the 84th minute for a 3-1 final. The Lynx last score came after Cummings was ejected for his second yellow card of the evening.

The Kings had to turn right around and play Sunday afternoon on the road versus the Kalamazoo Outrage. They would not fair any better as they allowed goals in the 43rd and 90th minutes to fall 2-0. The Outrage defense limited the Kings to just two shots on goal, both in the second half.

The Kings now stand at 2-5 in the Great Lakes Division of the PDL. With six points, they are in fourth place in the division.
Michigan Bucks Kings, 1-0
The Michigan Bucks defeated the Cincinnati Kings, 1-0, on Friday night at the Town & Country Soccer Stadium in United Soccer Leagues Premier Development League (PDL) action.

The action started slowly with no scoring in the first half and neither team generating many scoring chances. However, the Kings were energized in the early part of the second half by three halftime substitutions. John Mellencamp, Kevin Noschang, and Clifton Brown helped the Kings control possession and dictate the tempo of the match.

In the 70th minute, the Kings had a pair of chances that were both saved by the Bucks goalkeeper. The Bucks would answer five minutes later with a chance of their own that would hit the crossbar. As the final two minutes approached, it appeared the game would end in a 0-0 tie, but in the final minute a defensive breakdown by the Kings led a Michigan goal. Kenny Uzoigwe notched the lone goal of the match and Besmir Bega was credited with the assist.

The loss drops the Kings to 2-3 on the season with six points. They have a pair of matches next weekend beginning with a home match against Toronto Lynx on Saturday, June 7, at 7:30 p.m. The next day the team plays a Sunday matinee at 3:00 p.m. on the road against the Kalamazoo Outrage.
Kings Silence Chaos, 2-1
The Kings picked up their second victory of the season Friday night with a 2-1 win over the West Virginia Chaos in Charleston, West Virginia. It levels the Kings record on the season at 2-2.

The Chaos opened up the scoring in the 15th minute when Matthew Clare converted a penalty kick. That would be the lone goal for the Chaos though as the Kings answered late in the second half. In the 82nd minute, Charlie Pettys' corner kick found Jimmy Cummings who put the ball in the back of the net to tie the game at 1-1. Just four minutes later the Kings would take the lead for good when Andy Dimbi served the ball to the back post where Braden Bishop headed it home to seal the match for the Kings.

The Kings return home this Friday when the take on the Michigan Bucks at 7:30 p.m. at the Town & Country Soccer Stadium.
